National Sports Center
In the 90s, there was rumor of a sports facility being built in the North Metro (Blaine, MN) of the Twin Cities to rival ALL sports centers. 30 years later, this Internationally-Acclaimed campus, the National Sports Center, of all-things amateur sports is amazing!
Connecting with the NSC Management Team for a tour of the 600-acre multi sport property was a mind blowing experience! Soccer fields for days. I believe they have more than 66 as of the time I write this and adding 20 more soon.
I had never seen a building that could hold that many hockey rinks (eight sheets) - Super Rink, indeed! And a golf course, golf dome, and a meeting and convention facility!
I was thrilled to take on the challenge to express how international this facility has become, using the opening ceremonies of the USA Cup (International Youth Soccer Tournament) as an inspiration.
This mural is a bold greeting to all who enter the Welcome Center - the main building on campus. I look forward to experiencing the explosion that is the Opening Ceremonies of the USA Cup and all of the world that is hosted in our fair state!
