"Meant To Be Here"

I was honored to be chosen to create a vinyl mural for the Bloomington Ice Garden (BIG) back in the Spring of 2025. We went from a sketch of the design, to a few different versions using your feedback, to a final vinyl wrap in the vestibule of the newly renovated facility. I got to watch the awesome Creative Color team put the mural up a few days ago, and it was so cool to see the design go from my computer screen to up on the wall.

If you're coming in from the parking lot and walk in the side door of the vestibule, the mural depicts an outdoor pond hockey scene to mirror your journey from the outdoors to the indoor rink. I added the warming house and Hyland Hills in the background as a little shoutout to some of the other iconic landmarks in the city of Bloomington, Minnesota. 

As you walk alongside the mural, the figure skaters and hockey players create a sense of forward motion and highlight the athleticism and grace of the many athletes who utilize BIG. 

It was super cool to watch the mural come to life on the wall! Creative Color did a great job printing and installing the mural and their team created an additional historical mural that will be inside the rink.

Big shoutout to the City of Bloomington's Creative Placemaking Team, the BIG Staff, and the City of Bloomington for all of their efforts and coordination with making this project happen!
