I created this mural for Enterprise Mobility in their new Eagan office. The mural was a surprise for the employees who were about to move into the new office, and the team wanted a statement piece that explored a variety of Minnesotan themes to show to their national team members when they visited the office.

It's amazing to see the before and after pictures and see how much life a mural can breathe into a space. This wall also has a nice skylight right above the wall to light up the space and make the mural look even more vibrant.

This project was in the works for about 2 years from start to finish. The client had reached out in the very beginnings of the renovation of the office space. Once the construction project was at about 50% complete, the client reached out again, and the design process started. Finally, at 90% completion of the renovation, I was able to paint in the space.

The client wanted a very heavy Minnesota-based theme. Absolutely no problem with me! They wanted to show everything that represents Minnesota and makes us proud to live in the state. The iconic elements on the mural are just a few of the thousands of ideas we brainstormed about. The road that flows throughout the mural represents the journey that Enterprise's audience would travel through the state of Minnesota. Everything from the Twin Cities to the North Shore would have to be included.

I almost always base my paintings and murals with a bright yellow color - I find that this really makes colors pop with the yellow helping to illuminate from underneath.

The space stairwell was a very tight space for a tall inside wall. The images don't do the scale justice because the mural can never be viewed directly straight ahead unless the viewer is at the top of the stairs.

Because the mural cannot be viewed fully from ground level, this created challenges as to how to draw the viewers attention to it. From the lobby area of the Enterprise's Eagan location, employees can see the bottom left portion of the mural. As they approach the stairwell, the full mural is revealed as they ascend the stairs. The highway running through the composition reflects both the journey up the stairwell, and the idea of driving in a vehicle that reflects Enterprises' main rental business, and finally has a loose tie-in with the Enterprise "E" mark in their logo.
